Course Description

Learning to appreciate the complexities and requirements of CPD in general, and CPD events in specific, is the aim of this course.  Be empowered as a HSPR to get return on your events investment in an ethical manner.

Course Overview

The competencies that you will be gaining in this programme are:

  • Know how to effectively plan a CPD event and understand the HCP’s regulations with regards to said events.
  • Understand the marketing budget and to be able to identify and execute all aspects of a CPD event from target audiences to great venues, follow-up and more.
  • Know and apply the Marketing Code with regards to CPD events.
  • Apply cultural and religious guidelines to CPD events.
  • Know how to host environmentally friendly CPD events.

  • Define and understand CPD and the HCP’s obligations in regards to CPD.
  • Understanding the accreditation landscape.
  • Know and describe types of CPD events, including virtual activities.
  • Apply cultural and community guidelines to CPD events.

Module 2: The economics of a CPD events

  • Understand the role of the marketing budget in planning CPD events.
  • Know and apply the guidelines of the Marketing Code Authority in regard to CPD events.
  • Know how to select an appropriate target audience for the event.
  • How to select and prepare a KOL.
  • Know how to brief and introduce a speaker.
  • Know how to select a great educational and scientific venue.
  • Be prepared for online CPD.
  • Understand how to follow up after the event.

Module 3: Environmental guidelines for responsible event planning

  • Know and apply ways to minimise the impact of your CPD event.
  • Know key issues pertaining to waste management, energy consumption and water usage.
